Precision Plus o'rings are available in a wide variety of sizes and material options. Our most common o'ring materials are Buna (Nitrile) or FKM (Fluorocarbon/Viton). Buna (Nitrile) - a versatile material known for its excellent resistance to oil, fuel, and other petroleum-based fluids. It also exhibits good abrasion resistance and resilience, making it suitable for various sealing applications in automotive, aerospace, and general industrial environments.

However, Buna-N may not be suitable for applications involving exposure to ozone, sunlight, or certain chemicals. FKM (Fluorocarbon/Viton) - known for its exceptional resistance to extreme temperatures, chemicals, fuels, and oils. It can withstand a broader range of chemicals and fluids compared to Buna and is often preferred for sealing applications in demanding environments such as aerospace, automotive, and chemical processing industries. FKM also offers excellent resistance to degradation from weather and ozone exposure. However, it may not be as cost-effective as Buna and might not be as resilient in some general-purpose applications. When selecting between Buna and FKM for O-ring applications, considerations should be made based on factors such as the specific operating conditions, temperature range, chemical exposure, and budget constraints.

While Buna is suitable for many general-purpose applications, FKM is often chosen for its superior performance in extreme environments where resistance to high temperatures and aggressive chemicals is paramount.
